Nonprofit focused on educational advocacy for students with disabilities
INDIANAPOLIS — Disability Legal Services of Indiana is now doing business as Ability Allies with a new tagline: “Advocacy for Students with Disabilities” and logo.
“I am thrilled to announce our name change from Disability Legal Services of Indiana to Ability Allies,” said Executive Director Margaret Jones, Esq. “We continue to advocate for the educational success of children with disabilities and work with the students and their families as their allies, to protect Indiana’s most vulnerable children and help improve their educational outcomes.”
“Our name change to Ability Allies and our new tagline and logo emphasizes our effort to come alongside families as their allies when their children with disabilities face educational challenges. We provide assistance to families of children with disabilities who attend public schools, charter schools, private schools, and homeschools in matters involving eligibility for special education services, the amount and type of services received, educational placement determinations, and discipline. We also assist adults with disabilities with accommodations in higher education settings.” Jones said.
“Even though we are changing our name, we will continue to provide our free and low-cost legal services to parents of children with disabilities who need to know their legal rights and responsibilities to effectively advocate for their child’s education. We also provide free disability education law seminars to groups when requested.”
