We handle a variety of issues, including special education eligibility, educational services and placement, and discipline matters. We represent families across the state and advocate for and empower students and their parents to have a voice in education.

FREQUENTQUESTIONS

What information is required to be considered for services?

You must complete an intake form and submit it to our office. Additionally, you will be asked to provide documentation regarding your annual income so we can determine if you qualify for our services.

How will I know if my child becomes eligible for Ability Allies' services?

One of our staff will review your intake form and contact you regarding your eligibility for services. If you are eligible for services, and choose to move forward, you will meet with one of our attorneys to discuss your matter. If you are not eligible for services, our office will contact you and may provide other resources, when possible.

Does Ability Allies charge for our legal services?

Generally, if a client has an annual household income at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, our services are free. Clients with annual incomes at or below 125% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines will be given priority for services. If your annual household income is above 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, you will be charged a low-cost hourly fee for our services. The hourly fee will vary depending on your income level. Additionally, you may have to pay a portion of the expenses associated with representation, including filing fees, if applicable, and other charges.

Ability Allies assists with educational matters involving IEPs and Section 504 Plans. We handle a variety of issues, including: special education eligibility, educational services and education placement and least restrictive environment determinations, discipline matters and case conference meeting preparation.
